From a very early age, Josh,
15, grew up with music in the home, hearing his Dad sing and play guitar or tenor banjo.
In the winter of 2004 they met the Delnero family, and he and Bobby became fast friends.
It was then that he began playing a few chords on his Dad’s guitar and joined in the Delnero’s Monday night music class. He eventually graduated to his own Blueridge guitar
and was inspired in flatpicking by a Steve Kaufman DVD. A few years later, Josh picked up
the banjo, and has been progressing rapidly.
In addition to his Dad and the Delnero family, Josh has
been inspired by the music of Doc Watson, the Stanley Brothers, Flat and
Scruggs, and Red Allen.
When not making music with his siblings and parents, Josh works with them on
their small farm which includes pastured poultry, a chick hatchery, a half
acre of garlic, a small market garden, goats, and work horses. He also has
learned wood working at the Delnero Furniture family business and has an
interest in building guitars. Then, there’s always soccer, basketball, and baseball when time permits.
Josh credits his parents, with instilling in him a love for God and gospel music.
