Bill Knowlton's "Bluegrass Ramble," a regular feature on Central New York's
"Classic FM" since 1973 will celebrate its 35th anniversary with the recording
of a "radio barn dance" on Saturday afternoon, January 5th, 2008.
The three hour in-studio show will feature:
THE LOST BOYS: a Syracuse-based progressive and traditional bluegrass band
featuring SAMMY Award winning song writer, singer and guitarist John Cadley
RICH & JEAN FUHRMAN & THE VERY EXCELLENT FOLK TRIO: Central New Yorkers who
specialize in "folkabilly" gospel songs and traditional acoustic country music
and folk songs
BLUE LIGHTNING: from the Rome/Utica area; teenage youths who are taking
traditional bluegrass music into the 21st Century. The band includes Nick
Piccininni, banjo player for the SAMMY winning Delaney Brothers Bluegrass Band.
The three-hour show will be taped in the studios of Classic FM, 506 Old
Liverpool Road, Liverpool NY from 2 to 5 pm before a studio audience.
No tickets or reservations are needed; fans of all ages of bluegrass and oldtime
country music are invited to attend free of charge.
The show will be broadcast on Sunday, Jan. 20th from 9 pm to midnight EST over
WCNY-FM Syracuse (91.3), WUNY-FM Utica (89.5) and WJNY-FM Watertown (90.9), and

Bill Knowlton, "Mr. Bluegrass Of Central New York," is a past Broadcaster Of the
Year for the International Bluegrass Music Association, recipient of the
Cultural Resources Council Service to the Arts Award, Lifetime Achievement Award
winner from the Syracuse Press Club and member of the SAMMYS Hall Of Fame.
He also is the co-producer and host of the annual Bluegrass Ramble Picnic--New
York and New England's oldest bluegrass and oldtime country music festival, held
each August in Little York NY
